JOHN J. McDONNELL, 65, of the Belford section of Middletown died Sept. 29 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he moved to Middletown and the Belford area in 1967. He was an internal auditor for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, New York City, for 32 years, retiring in 1992. He was predeceased by his father, John J. McDonnell Sr. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dorothy Knapp McDonnell of Belford; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Debra McDonnell of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, and Joseph and Dawn McDonnell of Toms River; three daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Lee McKinley of Middletown, Dorothy and Thomas Kennedy of Red Bank, and Patricia and Robert Baker, also Red Bank; his mother, Bridget McDonnell of Long Island, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren. A funeral gathering will be Oct. 2 at 8:45 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral liturgy will follow at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. FRANCIS A. DEPPISCH, 80, of Delray Beach, Fla., died Sept. 20 at JFK Medical Center, Atlantis, Fla. Born in Keansburg, he resided in Middletown before moving to Delray Beach 20 years ago. He was a locomotive engineer for Pennsylvania Railroad, South Amboy, for 25 years, retiring in 1969. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a communicant of Holy Cross Church, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and former communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2179, Port Monmouth section of Middletown. He was predeceased by his wife, Anne Wode Deppisch in 1977; and a son, William Deppisch in 2000. He is survived by his son, Frank Deppisch of Delray Beach; two daughters, Anne Muller, and Mary Alice Deppisch, both of West Babylon, N.Y.; and three grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

HILDA HONDEMA BURNS, 82, of Union Beach died Sept. 23 at King James Care Center, Middletown. Born in New York City, she resided in Jersey City and Hoboken prior to moving to Union Beach 30 years ago. She was a worker in the bindery department at NJ Printing Company, Jersey City, for 25 years, retiring in 1968. She was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. Her memberships included the American Legion Post No. 338, Belford section of Middletown, and member and past commander of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Unit No. 29, Fort Monmouth. She was predeceased by her husbands, Peter Kenny in 1952, and Francis Burns in 1993. She is survived by two sons, Peter Kenny of Jackson, and Theodore Kenny of Middletown; four stepsons and daughters-in-law, Dennis Burns of Keyport, Robert and Sue Burns of California, Michael and Nancy Burns of Keansburg, and William and Joann Burns of Little Egg Harbor; four stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Skip Van Pelt of Toms River, Dorreen Talcott of Ohio, Rosemary and Richard Kasper of California, and Kathleen and Robert Mayer of Hazlet; 25 grandchildren; and 21-great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach.

MAE ROYAL PENLEY, 83, of Old Bridge died Aug. 6 in Bayshore Healthcare Center, Holmdel. Her husband, Raymond, died in 1970. Prior to her retirement in 1984, she was employed as a manager at 7-Eleven, Matawan. She was a volunteer at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division, for many years. Surviving are three sons, Raymond of Waldorf, Md., Henry of the Laurence Harbor section of Old Bridge and George of Crescent City, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Ambrose Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet. JOHN F. FEURY of Sayreville, formerly of Rumson and the Navesink section of Atlantic Highlands, died Aug. 7 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. Prior to his retirement in 1981, he was the owner of Feury Antiques, Rumson. Prior to that, he owned a furniture stripping business in Middletown. Surviving are his wife, Adrienne B. Conway Feury; a brother, Eugene Feury of Middletown; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Entombment was in St. Mary’s Mausoleum, South Amboy.

ANTOINETTE CINCOTTA LATTANZIO, 60, of Middletown died Sept. 24 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided in Staten Island, N.Y., for 30 years prior to moving to Middletown 2 years ago. She was a secretary at United Cerebral Palsy, Staten Island, for two years, retiring in 1987. Prior to that, she was a secretary at Smith & Prichard Shipping, New York City, for 18 years. Her activities included trips to Atlantic City and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Paul Lattanzio of Middletown; two daughters and one son-in-law, Paula Lattanzio of Staten Island, and Lynn and Dominick Pompili of Middletown; two sisters, Mary D’Angelo of Lyndonhurst, N.Y., and Lena Tesoriero of Staten Island; and three grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, North Middletown. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Middletown. EDWARD J. O’BRIEN, 61, of Hazlet died Sept. 25 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he resided in Hazlet for the past 34 years. He was an insurance and computer consultant for AIG Insurance Co., New York City, for two years. Prior to that, he was employed at various colleges and companies in the New York and New Jersey area. He served with the U.S. Army. His memberships included the Hazlet Board of Education, Hazlet Democratic Executive Committee and Club, and American Legion Post No. 321, Union Beach. He was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Simmonetti in 1981. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Barbara Stanis O’Brien of Hazlet; two sons and one daughter-in-law, John O’Brien of Hazlet, and Daniel and Tammy O’Brien of Highlands; his sister, Loretta Otskey of Farmingdale, N.Y.; and three grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. Burial was at the National Cemetery, Calverton, N.Y.

ROBIN RICHER, 50, of Aberdeen died Sept. 26 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided in Charleston, S.C., and Baltimore prior to moving to Aberdeen 21 years ago. She was a calligrapher and the owner of The Letterbox, Aberdeen, for the past 15 years. She was a member of Temple Beth Ahm, Aberdeen. She was a member of Jersey Shore Calligraphy Guild. She is survived by her husband, Robert Richer of Aberdeen; two sons, Seth and Daniel Richer; her parents, Ceil and Marvin Kassel of Delray Beach, Fla.; her sister, Phyllis Jones of Oakland, Calif.; and her mother-in-law, Lillian Richer of Wantaugh, N.Y. Interment was at Mount Sinai Cemetery, Marlboro.

BARBARA EVANS JACOBSON, 58, of Oceanport died Sept. 27 at the Center for Hospice Care at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch., Born in Jersey City, she resided in Middletown before moving to Oceanport 34 years ago. She was a guidance counselor at Red Bank Regional High School for 21 years. She was a parishioner of Our Lady Star of The Sea Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Constance Ippolito Evans. She is survived by her husband, Barry A. Jacobson of Oceanport; her son, Gregory A. Jacobson of Monmouth Beach; her daughter, Lauren E. Jacobson of Morris Plains; two brothers, Robert Evans of the Lincroft section of Middletown, and Ronald Evans of Middletown; and her sister, Gail Pelusio of the River Plaza section of Middletown. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Our Lady Star of The Sea Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. Entombment was at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport. WILLIAM F. STRANG SR., 77, of Keyport died Sept. 27 at Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Holmdel. Born in South Amboy, he was a lifelong resident of Keyport. He was a salesman for Tom’s Ford, Keyport, retiring in 1995. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. His past memberships included American Legion Post No. 23, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4247, and Knights of Columbus No. 3402, all Keyport. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Theresa D. Ader Strang of Keyport; two daughters and one son-in-law, Madeline and Daniel Slocum of Freehold, and Linda Strang of Keyport; two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Melissa Strang Jr. of Aberdeen, and George and Kelly Strang of Keyport; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Jackie Strang of Matawan; and eight grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.
