BRUCE A. RISLEY SR., 63, of the Morgan section of Sayreville, died Sept. 18 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was the owner and operator of Barco Transport, Morgan, for 30 years. His wife, Renee Chunko Risley, died in 1997. Surviving are two sons, Bruce A. Risley Jr. of Trenton and Mark Alan Risley of South River; a daughter, Tricia Pongracz of Jackson; two sisters, Sandra Risley of the Whiting section of Manchester; and four grandchildren. Services were held at Gundrum Service Home for Funerals, South Amboy. Interment was in Adams Cemetery, Port Republic.
LOUIS ROMAN, 71, of East Brunswick, died Sept. 22 in Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Prior to his retirement in 1988, he was employed as manager at ShopRite Liquors, East Brunswick. Prior to that, he worked as manager at Founders Inn, Jamesburg. A son, Thomas Roman, died in 1988. Surviving are his wife, Eleanor Bonus Roman; two sons, Michael Roman of Howell and Stephen Roman of Spotswood; and three grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. Entombment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the East Brunswick Rescue Squad.
HILDA HONDEMA BURNS, 82, of Union Beach, died Sept. 23 at King James Care Center, Middletown. Born in New York City, she resided in Jersey City and Hoboken prior to moving to Union Beach 30 years ago. She was a worker in the bindery department at NJ Printing Co., Jersey City, for 25 years, retiring in 1968. She was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. Her memberships included the American Legion Post No. 338, Belford section of Middletown, and member and past commander of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Unit No. 29, Fort Monmouth. She was predeceased by her husbands, Peter Kenny in 1952, and Francis Burns in 1993. She is survived by two sons, Peter Kenny of Jackson, and Theodore Kenny of Middletown; four stepsons and daughters-in-law, Dennis Burns of Keyport, Robert and Sue Burns of California, Michael and Nancy Burns of Keansburg, and William and Joann Burns of Little Egg Harbor; four stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Skip Van Pelt of Toms River, Dorreen Talcott of Ohio, Rosemary and Richard Kasper of California, and Kathleen and Robert Mayer of Hazlet; 25 grandchildren; and 21-great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach.
LEONARD JOSEPH WILLIAMS SR., 68, of Freehold, died Sept. 24 at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had been a resident of Freehold for the past 34 years. Mr. Williams was a motorman for the New York City Transit Authority, where he was employed for 35 years before his retirement eight years ago. He was a member of the Transit Workers Union, New York City. Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Helen (née McDonald); a son, Leonard J. Jr. of Freehold; a daughter, Margaret Ellis of Jackson; and two grandchildren. Interment was in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township.
LUBOV STELLEZKY, 84, of Howell, died Sept. 24 in Laurelton Village, Brick. She was born in Russia, came to the U.S. in 1950 settling in New York City, and moved to Howell in 1953. She was a member of St. Alexander Nevsky Russian Orthodox Church, Howell. She was a cook for the Convent at Georgian Court College, Lakewood. Her husband, Vsevolod. P. Stellezky, died in 1982. Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Landsberg and Nadia Podsvirow, both of Howell; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
DONALD MORRIS CLAYTON, 65, of Lakewood, died Sept. 25 in Leisure Chateau Care Center, Lakewood. He was born in Lakewood and was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a machine operator/truck driver for Reed Manufacturing, Lakehurst. Most recently, he worked in the Parks Division for the Lakewood Public Works Department before becoming ill. He enjoyed collecting bottles and metal. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf and had played on his high school golf team. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Clayton of Lakewood; two sons, Glenn D. of Dover Township, and Cliff J. of Brick; a daughter, Donna Lawder of Kingston; a sister, Amy Potter of Allentown, Pa.; and four grandchildren. Interment was in Hope Chapel Cemetery, Lakewood.
