MONROE — Police are investigating a string of burglaries that occurred in two township neighborhoods Saturday night.

Police reported that four homes were burglarized and a fifth showed signs that someone attempted to break in. The crimes occurred on Dayna Drive, Wing Foot Court, Forest Lane and Muirfield Boulevard, according to a report from the Monroe Township Police Department.

Police said the first of the four break-ins was reported to police at 8:30 p.m., when a resident of Wing Foot Court reported that his home had been burglarized sometime during the evening hours. Police reported that an unknown individual entered that residence by forcing open the rear door. An undisclosed amount of jewelry was stolen from the master bedroom in the incident, according to the police report.

Two homes were reportedly broken into on Dayna Drive, where one resident reported that an unknown subject gained entry during the early part of Saturday night by forcing open the front door. Jewelry and DVD’s were stolen from the home according to the report. A second resident on Dayna Drive reported that sometime early that night someone entered the residence through a window. At press time, police were still awaiting the submission of a list of stolen items in that incident.

In another incident, police were dispatched to Forest Lane in response to an activated burglar alarm. There, officers observed that the rear sliding glass door had been shattered. However, it appeared that the individual did not gain entry.

Also on Saturday night, a resident of Muirfield Boulevard reported that during the early nighttime hours an unknown person entered the residence through the rear door and stole an undetermined amount of cash.

Monroe police detective Sgt. Lawrence Linke said yesterday that police were uncertain whether all of the incidents were related.

Although three of the burglaries — those on Wing Foot Court, Dayna Drive and Muirfield Boulevard — are within a mile and a half of each other, Forest Lane is located on the other side of the township, Linke said.

Police had no descriptions of the suspect or suspects in the burglaries.
