N.B.-Milltown VFW sets

fish dinner for Oct. 11

North Brunswick-Milltown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2319 will hold a fish fry dinner from 5-8 p.m. on Oct. 11 at the post home, 45 Broad St., Milltown.

Participants will have a choice of broiled or fried fish. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children; add 50 cents for takeouts.

Book and bake sale

planned at S.R. Library

The South River Friends of the Library will hold its annual used books and bake sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 19 at the library, 55 Appleby Ave.

The event will feature a large selection of books at low prices. Refreshments will be available. For more information, call the library at (732) 254-2488.

Bikel to give concert

to benefit Pearl Center

Theodore Bikel, musician, actor, author and activist, will appear at 8 p.m. on Oct. 19 at the Count Basie Theatre, Red Bank, in a concert to benefit the new Daniel Pearl Education Center at Temple B’nai Shalom, East Brunswick.

Proceeds from the concert will aid future programming to commemorate the slain Wall Street Journal reporter’s life and his commitment to tolerance. Details: (732) 251-4300, ext. 222.
