HiTOPS, a teen health center providing clinical and educational services, is inviting people of all ages to attend a fund-raiser on Oct. 19, from 8 p.m.-midnight, at the Armory in Lawrenceville.
The evening will feature dancing to the music of the Maggi Hill Band and plenty of after-dinner drinks and delectables. Ms. Hill is a resident of Hopewell Township.
Honorary chairman for the event is Assemblyman Reed Gusciora (D-15th).
Brogann Tassie, director of Counseling Services at The Pennington School and a HiTOPS board member, is the event chairwoman. Her committee is comprised of seven young volunteers, including recent college graduates, current graduate students, and young professionals, all of whom were attracted to HiTOPS for its mission and role in the community. They have created an event intended to bring together a diverse crowd to celebrate HiTOPS and raise funds to support programs for teens.
Joining Ms. Tassie in the planning of the event are: Scott Donald, director of The New School for Music Study in Kingston; Amy Eisentein, associate director of Development and Alumnae Relations at Douglass College; Meredith Galanter Hastings, a graduate student at Princeton University; HiTOPS board member Joel Pachecco; Hillary Plouffe, a student at NYU, and freelance artist and designer Krell Sielicki.
"HiTOPS was such an important part of my life growing up," said Ms. Tassie. "The clinic was a safe place where I could receive affordable, high-quality health care and counseling, and where I knew that I was valued and respected. Now, several years later, serving on the Board of Directors gives me the opportunity to give something back." She added enthusiastically, "I understand from personal experience what a difference HiTOPS can make in a teenager’s life, and how important it is that the services are accessible to them."
Tickets are $100, with a special reduced rate of $40 for patrons 30 years of age and under. For more information, call 683-5155, ext. 34.
