‘Gigantic Garage Sale’

The First Reformed Church, 42 Thomas St., South River, will host a "Gigantic Garage Sale" from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 19.

Available merchandise will include clothing for all seasons for children and adults and an assortment of household items for indoor and outdoor use. All items will be sold at bargain prices.

Free parking will be available in the church parking lot.

Pumpkin Festival set for

Oct. 26 in Jamesburg

The borough of Jamesburg will hold a Pumpkin Festival from 1-3 p.m. on Oct. 26 in "The Pumpkin Patch" at the home of the Jamesburg Fire Department, 89 W. Railroad Ave.

The event will feature monetary prizes for the funniest, prettiest, scariest, most originally decorated and best DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education)-themed pumpkins. Youngsters are invited to bring their decorated pumpkins and enjoy the afternoon’s clowns, balloons, refreshments, cookies and amusements. One pumpkin entry per person will be allowed.

Pickup of free pumpkins for decorating will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Oct. 19 at Triangle/Veterans Park, West Railroad Avenue, Jamesburg. For more information, call (732) 521-2222.

Animal Rescue Force

seeking volunteers

Individuals who love animals and are concerned about the fate of homeless dogs and cats are invited to serve as volunteers with the Animal Rescue Force, East Brunswick.

Interested individuals ages 21 and older are needed to spare one Saturday or Sunday per month to work at the group’s adoption centers on Route 18 in East Brunswick and at the Englishtown Auction. For more information, call (732) 257-7559.
