Helmetta baby fund-raiser
set for tonight, tomorrow
A fund-raiser to help pay for the medical needs of 14-month-old Steven Gerard Pepi of Helmetta will be held tonight and tomorrow from 7-10 at the Holy Trinity Church, 100 Main St., in Helmetta.
"Stamp Camp" fund-raisers are being organized by Gail Micca of Freehold and Debra Barrow of Monroe. For a $30 donation, participants will be shown rubber-stamping techniques for making greeting cards, scrapbooks, Christmas ornaments, boxes, bags, jewelry, artwork and other things.
Steven Pepi has been diagnosed with an undetermined form of congenital muscular dystrophy. His parents, Steven and Michelle, said their medical insurance only covers the bare minimum in expenses for dealing with the many specialists Steven must see and the supplies he needs.
Micca and Barrow are hoping to raise at least $7,000 this week for a new wheelchair that Steven needs in order to stay in an upright position so that he can develop his muscles.
Donations can be mailed to Gail Micca at 59 Lake Drive, Freehold 07728, and can be made payable to the Holy Trinity Disabled Children’s Fund. For more information, call Micca at (732) 845-5079 or Barrow at (732) 656-1493
