Some 13 players from the East Brunswick Buddy Ball baseball league had the memorable experience of meeting President George W. Bush and playing T-ball in front of him on the White House lawn in a game against a Virginia team Sept. 22.
The specially challenged children, who are 5 to 18 years old and hail from East Brunswick, South Brunswick, Old Bridge and other local communities, were accompanied by 13 of their "buddies" who play baseball with them.
Group members also met Cal Ripken Jr. during the event, toured the White House and were treated to a picnic.
"They all loved it. It was the experience of a lifetime," said parent Sheldon Harris of South Brunswick.
