MONROE — Ground was broken Oct. 8 on what will be a two-story assisted living facility that is being added onto the Monroe Village continuing care retirement community.
The new facility will include 28 suites, and is expected to be completed in late 2003.
The assisted living facility will feature studio and one-bedroom suites and common areas on each floor.
These areas will include a country kitchen, and a dining and conversation area, according to a statement issued by Monroe Village, an affiliate of the Princeton-based nonprofit organization, Presbyterian Homes & Services Inc.
The first floor of the assisted living section will offer a living room, fireplace, a large activity room and other amenities.
A second addition at Monroe Village is also scheduled.
This later phase will include the construction of a fitness complex accompanied by an indoor swimming pool.
Monroe Village offers services, amenities and residency options for senior citizens seeking an independent and active living facility.
