Mediation to continue on FRHSD voting points

Mediation to continue
on FRHSD voting points

A mediation session to discuss the Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education’s voting system has been continued to Dec. 16 following an initial mediation session on Monday.

The continuation means that a hearing initially scheduled for Dec. 5 before U.S. District Court Judge Garrett E. Brown, sitting in Trenton, will not be held. That hearing has been rescheduled for Dec. 19, according to Stephanie Luftglass, Marlboro’s director of public information.

The mediation efforts involve representatives of all eight FRHSD sending towns and center on a lawsuit filed by the township of Marlboro that seeks to change the board’s weighted voting system in order to reflect changes in population in the eight FRHSD towns between 1990 and 2000.

An injunction issued by Brown on Nov. 18 that restrains the school board from voting on any issue of substance remains in effect, Luftglass said.

Holiday show will

feature local actors

Cabaret for Life will present its annual holiday show, "Christmas Traditions, Trials and Tribulations," Dec. 9-10 at 7:30 p.m. at the Old Mill Inn, Spring Lake. Tickets are $60 and include the cabaret show and a four-course dinner.

Cabaret for Life is a local nonprofit organization that has presented holiday shows annually since 1995.

Founder Andrew DePrisco, the director and co-writer of this year’s original revue, said, "Our Christmas show remains our most popular show because it is always an event. This year, with the Old Mill Inn being newly renovated and always gaily decorated for the holiday, the show has even more appeal."

The show was co-written by musical director and lyricist Felix Truex of Ocean Grove, who also performs on the piano.

"Christmas Traditions, Trials and Trib-ulations" is a 75-minute musical revue in three acts. Act one explores many traditional songs of the holiday including childhood favorites.

Act two is a survivor’s guide to the holidays with musical comments on those trying tribulations like last-minute shopping, dealing with crazy family members at holiday meals, etc.

Act three is the divorce trial of an embittered Mrs. Claus against her self-centered husband Nick. The act includes songs from many Broadway shows including Mame, She Loves Me, The Sound of Music, I Love My Wife and more.

The cast includes Andrea Bochicchio and Chuck Caudill, both of Jackson; Jesse Rodriguez and Kristin Piro, both of Howell; and Lori Zicky of Brick.
