Education group to host

Education group to host ‘Cupid’s Ball’ Feb. 7

The Millstone Township Foundation for Educational Excellence will hold its first event of 2003 to celebrate the township’s commitment to excellence in education.

The group will host "Cupid’s Ball," a Valentine’s dinner-dance and silent auction, Feb. 7 at the Battleground Country Club in Manalapan.

There will be an open bar and butler-style hors d’oeuvres from 6-7 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner at 7 p.m. The event will also feature a live band, dancing, silent auction and raffle.

The group is in need of donated items for the silent auction.

Millstone church to hold blood drive on Jan. 5

The United Presbyterian Church of Millstone will sponsor a blood drive conducted by the American Red Cross, Jan. 5 from noon to 4 p.m. at the church, 211 Millstone Road.

Scrapbook class Jan. 12 at Anshei Roosevelt

East Windsor Hadassah is offering a beginner scrapbooking class Jan. 12 at 2 p.m. at Congregation Anshei, Homestead Lane, Roosevelt.

Participants will learn how to turn those boxes of photos and memorabilia into keepsake scrapbook photo albums. Attendees should bring eight to 10 photos to complete a scrapbook page.

Villagers to meet Jan. 8

The Villagers of Allentown will meet at 10 a.m. Jan. 8 in the Allentown Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. The program, "Memories of Allentown," will be presented by Marion Bauer. Guests are welcome.

BAC slated to present ‘Emperor’s New Clothes’

Battleground Arts Center will present Craig Babcock and Richard Stillman in The Emperor’s New Clothes Jan. 12, 2 p.m., at Freehold Intermediate School, 280 Park Ave., Freehold.

The two performers will present a clever adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s humorous story, with original songs, scenery, colorful costumes and various musical instruments.

This version of the universal tale of self-awareness was written by Joe Cosentino, with music and lyrics by Richard Stillman. The program is produced by TSF Productions.
