School’s reputation depends on teachers

To the editor

A school district’s reputation is based on a variety of things: among them a varied curriculum, alignment with state standards, standardized test scores, and the colleges its graduates attend.
None of these indicators occurs in isolation. Curriculum without a skilled staff to apply it is mere rhetoric. Alignment with state standards cannot be achieved without the knowledge of a trained and dedicated teaching staff. Standardized test scores and pupil achievement are directly linked to a teacher’s ability to impart information in an interesting and exciting manner.
Encouragement and positive reinforcement allow students to develop and enhance a positive self image and reach their goals.
In short, a school’s success is directly dependent on its teaching staff.
Teachers are the backbone of the Hillsborough School District. Their skills and ability are responsible for the district’s excellent reputation. They deserve our thanks, our respect, and certainly our support.
