Teacher earns topchild-care certification

Manville resident Melissa Reilley received the Certified Child Care Professional (CCP) designation, the highest credential awarded by the National Child Care Association.
Ms. Reilley is a kindergarten teacher at Kangaroo Kids in North Branch for the past 18 months. In addition to teaching, she is responsible for writing press releases, newsletters and is involved in coordinating community projects at Kangaroo Kids.
The CCP credential is awarded to qualified candidates who complete a rigorous course of study and extensive practicum in a childcare center. Among other things, the program includes the study of child development, curriculum development, health and safety, regulation and management.
Ms. Reilley is a 1997 graduate of Immaculata High School in Somerville, and William Paterson University in Wayne, where she received a degree in English. She plans to return to William Paterson in the summer to work on a Masters in Elementary Education.
