George R. Amunds, 82, died Friday, Dec. 27, at home.
Born in Brooklyn, he lived in East Brunswick for 28 years, moving to Clearbrook in 1985. He served in the Air Force for over 30 years, and saw action as a bombardier, flying over 45 missions during World War II and over 30 missions during the Korean conflict. He was later an accountant for Continental Insurance Company in Livingston for 20 years, retiring in 1972.
He is survived by his wife, Gertrude; a brother, Donald of Shalimar, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 31, at M. David DeMarco Funeral Home in Monroe. Mass followed at Nativity of Our Lord R.C. Church. Interment was held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
