Township Dems host tax reform discussion

A former state senator will talk about the proposed constitutional convention on property tax reform.

By:
The East Windsor Township Democrats will meet on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the East Windsor Municipal Building, sponsoring a discussion of the state legislation which would provide for a state constitutional convention to reform New Jersey’s system of property taxation.
It is generally agreed that the existing state system, in its heavy reliance on property taxes to fund schools and local governments, places a tremendous burden on residents, especially senior citizens on fixed incomes, and adversely impacts community planning and development.
Former State Sen. Bill Schulter, a sponsor and vigorous advocate of this state proposal, will make a presentation about this idea. He will discuss the specifics of the constitutional convention proposal, how it would work, who would participate, and possible outcomes of such an approach.
The public is welcome to attend. For any further information, call 448-1307.
