The Lambertville Basketball Association’s 2003 season officially began Saturday, Jan. 4, with eight games.
Here is a look at the first week of action in the league.
Cafe Europa 13
Pedersen Gallery 2
Cafe Europa won its opening game of the season over Pedersen Gallery.
Strong inside rebounding and shooting led to the win for Cafe Europa. Conner Weber led the way with six points for Cafe Europa. Marco Maltese and Chase Opdyke demonstrated good ball movement and aggressive offensive play.
T-Recs 14
E.J. Lelie won its season opener over T-Recs.
Matt Sullivan led the way for the winning team with 14 points, Adam Warwinsky added eight points, and Jason Zimmerman scored six points. Joshua Cullen and Cody Stintsman each added two points to complete the scoring for E.J. Lelie.
Adam Hepburn and Collin Cappelle each scored four points to lead the offense for the T-Recs team. Max Whitaker, Brendan Collins and Jason McCaulley all netted two points for their team. Both teams played hard for the entire game.
R&R Painting 24
Lambertville PBA 10
R&R Painting opened the 2003 season with a victory over Lambertville PBA.
Amanda Nielsen and Sarah Phillips led R&R with eight points each. Kayla Bohrer added six points, and Emily Hart scored two points.
Emily Marley led the Lambertville PBA offense with eight points. Mackenzie Koval added two points for the PBA team. All the girls played great defense for both teams.
Sneakers Plus 10
Pine Creek opened the 2003 season with a win over a tough Sneakers Plus team.
Stefanie Hutchinson led the Pine Creek attack with 14 points. Melissa Aversa had four points, and Tori Smiegocki, Danielle Lelie and Laura Kropp had two points to round out the Pine Creek scoring. Andrea Wisniewski played great defense.
The Sneakers Plus team was led by Amanda Nielsen’s eight points. Rachel Slovak added two points. Kayla Esposito, Gina Scamuffa and Margaux Laplante all played good defense and grabbed a lot of rebounds.
Hart Enterprises 34
Woodens Home Improvement 11
Hart Enterprises picked up its first win of the new season over Woodens.
Hart Enterprises came out and played a tough defensive game against Woodens. Leading the way for Hart Enterprises was Adam Hoagland with 16 points. Kyle Stintsman and Matt Kritz each scored eight points, and Gabe Stephens added two points.
Woodens Home Improvement was led by Matt Hajek’s four points. Sam Franzini, Nick Maltese and Bryan Culbertson each added two points, and Andrew Weinstein finished with one point. Both teams played hard and with great sportsmanship.
The Medicine Shoppe 24
New Orleans Cafe II defeated the Medicine Shoppe in a very close game Saturday.
It was decided in the fourth quarter when Nick Woodhull drained two three-pointers. Woodhull finished with 14 points while his teammates Tyler Galloway and Brian Snell each scored four points.
For the Medicine Shoppe, Corey O’Neill scored 12 points while Tyler Harrison scored three points. Sean Leslie had four assists while Wyatt Riggs added three.
Garefino 15
United Trust 12
The Garefino team picked up a win over the United Trust team Saturday.
Leading the way for the Garefino team was Cory Muscatell with five points. United Trust was led by Stephanie Davis’ 10 points. Both teams played great defense.
Cifelli 13
The Kiwanis team started out the 2003 season with a win over the Cifelli team.
At the end of the first half, the scored was tied at six. The Kiwanis team went ahead in the third quarter and maintained the lead despite outstanding hustle and play by the Cifelli team.
Christina DiBartelomeo led the offense for the Kiwanis team with 10 points. Olivia Hagerty and Taylor Peccarelli each added four points, and Brittany Ennis and Olivia DiLauro each finished with two points. Amy McKelvey, Carrie Hornberger and Ashley Bennett all played great defense for the Kiwanis team.
Cifelli was led by Katelyn Cifelli’s seven points and many rebounds. Holly O’Shea added six points for the Cifelli’s team. Jamie Tillett, Meghan Schermerhorn, Lisa Hoagland, Jeanie Hubert, Carrie Sherrat-Bado, Catherine Seeley and Molly Bob all played with great hustle and helped create an excellent team defense.
