HEF sets ‘Peter and the Wolf’ reprise

A woodwind quintet from the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra will perform selections from "Peter and Wolf" by Sergei Prokofiev in a special program designed to help young children appreciate classical music composition, at 1 p.m., Jan. 18, at Hillsborough’s Auten Road Intermediate School.
The program is the second presentation of the program offered free to Hillsborough residents by the Hillsborough Education Foundation. Funded with proceeds from fund-raising activities including the annual Taste of Hillsborough and HEF Golf Classic, the program is designed to help expand the cultural and educational opportunities for Hillsborough residents.
The program is intended for children between 6 and 12 years of age. Musicians with the NJSO will demonstrate their instruments, allowing children in the audience to get close and even touch the instruments.
Hillsborough teacher Beth Nichols will narrate the story of "Peter and the Wolf" as the instruments play the themes written by Prokofiev.
No registration is required, however, two winners will be drawn from entries prior to the presentation for two tickets to this year’s Taste of Hillsborough. Entries can be made at the HEF Web site, www.hef.org, or by mailing name, address, phone number and number of people attending to HEF, PO Box 5642, Hillsborough, NJ 08844.
