Marian C. Normart
Marian C. Normart, 82, died Dec. 27 at the Medical Center at Princeton.
Born in Chester, Pa., she was a resident of Hopewell and Norwood, Pa.
She worked in the drafting department at General Electric in Philadelphia, Pa., for 10 years. She loved painting, especially watercolors and oils and enjoyed sewing, gardening and reading.
She was a graduate of Ridley Park High School, Pennsylvania, and the University of the Arts and Tyler School of the Arts.
Predeceased by her parents, Archie and Mary Pyewell Campbell, she is survived by her daughter, Christine N. Hoenstine of Doylestown, Pa.; two sons Martin L. Normart of Lawrenceville and Robert Normart of North Wales, Pa.; two sisters, Louise Ellers of Ridley Park, Pa. and Catherine Campbell of Upper Chichester, Pa; and three grandchildren, one of whom she raised.
Funeral services were held Dec. 31 at the Robert Moreland Funeral Home, Trainer, Pa. Interment was in Chester Rural Cemetery, Chester, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 219 N. Broad St., second floor, Philadelphia, Pa., 19107.
Helen A. Durling
Helen A. Durling, 90, of Orlando, Fla., and Whiting died Jan 5 in Florida.
Born in Hopewell, Mrs. Durling formerly owned a gift shop, Mahogany House in Westfield.
During her 40 years as a Union County resident, she was active in Washington School, Roselle PTA and was a Girl Scout leader for more than a decade.
Before marrying R. Allen Durling, a former editor of the Elizabeth Daily Journal, she had worked as a jewelry designer in Hopewell. During the 1950s, she and her husband published the PBA Sentinal for the New Jersey State PBA.
She earned blue ribbons for crocheting, needlework, crafts, and jams and baked goods at the Central Florida State Fair. During her time in Whiting, she maintained a vegetable and flower garden, the results of which she shared with groups in which she was active in Crestwood Village II.
Mrs. Durling was a member of Grace Methodist Church, Orlando, Fla., and was a former member of First United Methodist Church, Westfield.
In January 2001 she and her late husband celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Predeceased by her husband, she is survived by a son Allen E. Durling of Arnold, Md.; three daughters, Doris Toms of Gotha, Fla., Anita Carvalho of Cranford and Kathryn Zuber of Union; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Jan. 11 at 2 p.m. at the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, Pennington Circle, Hopewell Township.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Hopewell.
There will be no calling hours.
