   Lawrence Mills, 25, of William Street was charged with simple assault in a domestic violence case at 3:02 a.m. Jan. 6.
   Mr. Mills was given $1,000 bail without the option to pay 10 percent. He was turned over to the Somerset County Jail in Somerville in lieu of bail after the charge was processed.

James D. Sawyer, 26, of Lebanon was charged at 12:02 p.m. Jan. 5 with simple assault injuring a victim’s face.
   Mr. Sawyer was released on his own recognizance, pending a court appearance.

Angel S. Soto, 20, of Somerville was charged at 11:20 p.m. Jan. 4 with simple assault on his 15-year-old girlfriend at Tenpin Lanes in the Rustic Mall.
   He was released on his own recognizance, pending a court appearance.

Yippsy and Joseph Medeiros, 28 and 27 respectively, of Elizabeth were charged with shoplifting, according to the police report.
   The two allegedly tried to return a sewing machine they had never purchased, valued at $246.68, at the Wal-Mart on North Main Street.
   Mr. Medeiros also was charged with hindering apprehension.
   They both received $1,500 bail and are in Somerset County Jail in Somerville in default of bail.

Eliud Burgos, 26, of Bound Brook was charged at 10:20 p.m. Jan. 2 with driving with a revoked license and a previous $113 motor vehicle warrant from the Manville Municipal Court.
   He was released to friends after posting bail.

   George A. Kent, 38, of Sayreville was charged with driving an unregistered vehicle, suspended registration and license when he was stopped at the intersection of Huff Avenue and South Reading Street at 9:12 a.m. Jan. 2.
   He was released, pending a court appearance.

Carlos Orlando Lopez Talledo, 27, of Bound Brook was charged at 9:55 a.m. Jan. 2 with unlicensed driving, exhibiting the license of another, unclear license plates and hindering apprehension when he was pulled over on South Reading Street.
   He was given $1,500 bail, cash only, and is lodged in Somerset County Jail in Somerville in default of bail.

Jerry Szymonowicz Jr., 26, of Piscataway was charged at 8:50 a.m. Jan. 2 with failure to make repairs to his vehicle and driving while uninsured when he was pulled over at the corner of Pope Street and South Fifth Avenue.
   He was issued a summons and released, pending a court appearance.

Andrew Brockley, 24, of North Eighth Avenue was charged at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 1 with assault at his residence after having a physical altercation, according to the police report.
   Police responded to an abandoned 911 call at the residence. Mr. Brockley received $500 bail without 10 percent or bond options. He is lodged in Somerset County Jail in Somerville in lieu of bail.

A black leather purse with a New Jersey driver’s license, an Advantage checkbook and debit card, a Social Security card and an original New York birth certificate was reported missing from the Reading Cinema on North Main Street at 10:12 a.m. Dec. 31.

Eric Rowland, 40, of Featherbed Lane in Hillsborough was charged with driving while uninsured on West Camplain Road at 12:09 p.m. Dec. 31.
   He was released, pending a court appearance.
