The Pinelanders Youth Soccer Club in Howell will hold open registration sessions for the spring 2003 recreational program on Jan. 17 from 7-9 p.m. and Jan. 18 from 9 a.m.-noon at the Howell Middle School North, Squankum Yellowbrook Road. If the Jan. 18 session is postponed, there will be an alternate session on Jan. 25 at the same time and location.

The recreational program is open to boys and girls ages 4-18 as of April 1, 2003. Proof of all ages is required for all new players. There are no residency requirement. GoodSports, USA, Aberdeen, is offering the following programs this winter: Adult Indoor Flag Football, starting Monday, cost is $1,195 per team plus $20 referee fee per game; Youth Instructional Roller Hockey, first session starts tomorrow and session two on Feb. 27, times are 5 p.m. for ages 4-6 and 5-6 p.m. for ages 7-10, cost is $11 per player; boys’ high school soccer, starting Jan. 26, eight games guaranteed and cost is $90 per player with games Sundays and Mondays from 4-10 p.m.; and girls’ high school soccer starting Jan. 22, eight games guaranteed and the fee is $90 per player with games Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The Freehold Area Running Club’s 2003 Winter Race Series, which is celebrating its 20th year, will run on consecutive Sundays through Feb. 2. The 5K races are held in Michael J. Tighe Park, Georgian Road, Freehold Township. In addition to the 5K race that starts at 10 a.m., there are one-half mile and one-mile Kids Runs starting at 9:30. Preregistration is not required.
