MARLBORO — The branch of the Staten Island Bank and Trust in the Exclusive Plaza shopping center, Route 9 north at Union Hill Road, was robbed of $9,000 at 11:51 a.m. Jan. 11.
According to Monmouth County First Assistant Prosecutor Robert A. Honecker Jr., the suspect is a black male with a medium build in his early 20’s. He was wearing a N.Y. Yankees baseball cap, a puffy royal blue jacket and latex gloves.
Honecker said the suspect produced what appeared to be a rifle or a shotgun and advised the tellers to produce money and place it into his white plastic bags.
He fled through the parking lot of Exclusive Plaza and made his escape on foot. The suspect escaped with $9,000.
The police were immediately contacted by bank employees. The Marlboro Police Department, the Monmouth County Prosector’s Office and the FBI are investigating the robbery.
