Solebury appoints eight to zoning revision panel

SOLEBURY — Supervisors recently appointed eight members to its new Zoning Ordinance Revision Committee.
The duties of the five voting members and three non-voting members will be to recommend changes in the township’s zoning ordinances and in the subdivision and land development ordinances.
Appointments to the committee were announced during the reorganization meeting Jan. 6.
The five voting members are Sue Kroupa, who also is co-chairperson of the Land Preservation Committee; Gretchen Hampt, vice chairperson of the Planning Commission; Peter Brussock, formerly of the Planning Commission; Joseph Pignator, who serves on the Zoning Hearing Board; and Karen Green.
The three nonvoting members are attorney Terry Clemons, engineer Robert Williams and supervisors’ Chairman John Eichert.
Mr. Eichert was elected chairman during the Jan. 6 meeting.
"It will be a significant job in 2003 to rewrite the ordinances," said Supervisor William Tinsman.
Mr. Tinsman, the former chairman, was elected to the post of vice chairman.
"Revisions are essential because they will follow the direction of the Comprehensive Plan," Mr. Tinsman said.
A revised Comprehensive Plan was released late last year. Among its main goals are the preservation of open space, the water supply, stream quality and road congestion and safety. The plan also is strongly opposed to the Route 202 expressway.
Public meetings of the Zoning Ordinance Revision Committee probably will be held twice per month, although none has been scheduled yet, according to township Manager Michael Cotter.
