Worship seminar to be held
By: Scott Morgan
ALLENTOWN Sometimes even faith needs a tune-up. Fortunately for the congregation of Allentown Presbyterian Church, the right mechanic is coming to visit.
On Feb. 1, the church plans to host a seminar by Tom Kreauter, a prolific ministerial author and public speaker, designed to provide spiritual refreshment to the faithful. The seminar will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the church at 20 High St.
According to Lee Weitz, a member of the church and coordinator for the event, Mr. Kreauter will present a Scripture-based seminar for "anyone wishing to learn more about worship or desiring a stronger relationship with the Lord."
The Feb. 1 seminar will mark the first time Mr. Kreauter will visit the area, Mr. Weitz said.
The seminar will discuss a series of topics, from how worship can influence culture and the relevance of biblical worship to society to overcoming obstacles to worship and practical ways to strengthen relationships with God.
Mr. Weitz said the church landed Mr. Kreauter (author of ten books on worship and ministry) when his wife, Pat, the music director at Allentown Presbyterian, saw him speak in northern New Jersey.
"She just had to have him come down," Mr. Weitz said.
So far, Mr. Weitz said, about 30 people have signed up for the seminar, although he said he expects that number to grow as the day gets closer.
"Mr. Kreauter’s office expects up to 150 people," Mr. Weitz said.
There is an advance registration fee of $30 ($35 at the door). Advance registration closes Jan.18.
