Teens in search of an original and enriching summer experience are invited to the Summer Trip and Program Fair scheduled 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14 at Princeton High School.
The fair will focus exclusively on summer trips and programs for high school students. The event is hosted by the Princeton High School Parent Teacher Organization and sponsored by Tips on Trips and Camps, a free overnight camp consulting service for ages 8 through 18. Admission is free.
Students from all area high schools and their parents are invited to meet representatives from over 30 summer programs.
"When teens outgrow traditional overnight camps or want to go away for the first time, there are many enriching and challenging opportunities to choose from," said Helaine Isaacs, a consultant with Tips on Trips and Camps.
Students can travel throughout the United States or the world while performing community service projects, participating in language immersion or cultural exchange programs, traveling on a teen tour, taking part in a wilderness expedition, or choosing from a variety of outdoor adventure activities.
Some of the programs are more academically based and others are more physically challenging.
For example, participants can spend their days in an artists’ colony, travel cross-country, learn to sail and scuba dive in the Caribbean, bicycle through France, or live with a family in Florence, Italy. They can rock climb, raft and hike in Colorado, snowboard in British Columbia or renovate a community hospital in Peru.
