HILLSBOROUGH Emil Malesky died Jan. 15 in Somerset Medical Center, Somerville. He was 85.
Born in the Bronx, N.Y., he had been a resident of Hillsborough since 1954.
He was a decorated World War II Army Infantry veteran. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge. During that battle, he was captured in Baston, Germany. He then was a POW for 100 days, until he was liberated by the U.S. troops. He was a recipient of the POW medal.
Mr. Malesky worked as a truck driver for Houdallie Industries for over 22 years, retiring in 1982. He then worked at Weldon Concrete of Bound Brook for four years.
He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough.
His wife, Katherine Malesky, died in 1986.
Surviving are his son, Ronald of Bridgewater; three grandchildren; and one sister, Olga Obuch of Reno, Nev.
The funeral service was held Monday from the Ketusky Funeral Home in Manville, followed by a funeral liturgy at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hillsborough.
