Valley Foundation seeks sponsors for senior lunches

The Hopewell Valley Foundation is looking for sponsors for the 2003 Senior Citizens Luncheons.
The most recent luncheon event — a Holiday Senior Citizens Luncheon — took place in December at Timberlane Middle School.
Students from Connie Olde’s Family and Consumer Science classes served the seniors and the honors chorus from the high school entertained guests. Special luncheons to bring seniors and students together have been held throughout the past year.
Realtor Jimmy Maul, partner/owner at Keller Willliams Real Estate, who sponsored the December lunch last year, sponsored this year’s luncheon once again. Said Mr. Maul, "It is a great pleasure to sponsor this luncheon, and I personally wish so many wonderful neighbors and friends in Hopewell Valley a happy and healthy new year. I enjoy this event so much that I am helping to recruit sponsors for the spring luncheons."
Mary Betz of PNC Bank and PNC Investments on Nassau Street in Princeton funded last May’s luncheon. Ms. Betz specializes in accounts for seniors. PNC is committed to sharing its heart with the community, and Ms. Betz felt that sponsoring the May luncheon was a wonderful way to honor the senior members of the community and share PNC’s heart.
The April luncheon was funded by a sponsor who prefers to remain anonymous.
Ann and Bob Wills of Hopewell Township said they have been coming to the luncheons for years — even before they were free — and they have always enjoyed both the food and the entertainment.
Steve Cochrane, principal at Timberlane, sees the luncheons as a way for Hopewell Valley schools to give back to the community. "The seniors who attend the luncheons have become good friends," Mr. Cochrane said, "and we love the opportunity to share with them our artwork, our music, and our commitment to service. Many thanks to Chris Canosa and Connie Olde who organize the luncheons and to The Hopewell Valley Education Foundation, which solicits area businesses and individuals to sponsor them."
Free to any senior who wishes to attend, the Senior Luncheons have been a community tradition for over 20 years.
To make a reservation for the upcoming Senior Luncheons in April and May, call Kathy Perna in the Hopewell Valley Recreation Department at 737-3753. Seating is limited, so reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. If the April luncheon fills up, seniors can make a reservation for the May luncheon, if they wish.
Those interested in being sponsors for the 2003 Senior Citizens Luncheons should contact the Hopewell Valley Foundation, P.O. Box 553, Pennington, 08534, or e-mail to [email protected].
