More than 100 professional artists and artisans from all over the northeast are expected at the 28th annual CBA Art Show and Sale which will take place on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1-2 at Christian Brothers Academy, 850 Newman Springs Road, in the Lincroft section of Middletown.
Mediums such as watercolors, oils, photography, sculptures, pottery, woodcarving, jewelry, and furniture will be presented, according to a press release.
Many favored artists are returning from previous years’ shows.
To mention a few, Zu Sheng Yu of West Hempstead, N.Y., features large contemporary oils. Ed Hicks from Glastonbury, Conn., focuses on New England scenes. Founder and owner Dale Pilling of I Did it Metal Art Inc. designs unique pieces of hand-crafted sterling jewelry.
Newcomers expected this year include Xie Yuan Huang, a contemporary oils painter, originally from China and educated at the Hubei Academy of Fine Arts.
His work is exhibited at the China National Art exhibition. Also new to the show is John Maurer, who recently received the Landscape Award Spring 2001 and Third Place Oils, fall 2002 at the Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit in New York.
Another newcomer is Andrew Chen, a nature photographer.
This year the show will display works from the Children’s Art Therapy Program of Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. This program uses the art process to provide an outlet for children ages 4-13 who are affected by illness or who are learning to cope with the loss of someone close to them.
A preview party will open the show on Jan. 31 from 7-10 p.m.
Artists will mingle with party guests and give all a preview of their work.
Tickets for the opening event are $20 per person and can be purchased in advance or that evening.
The main gallery of the art show and sale will open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 1-2.
