Collect awards at regional competition
Rob Snyder’s first place award in the Accounting ll category set the pace for Manville’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) students competing at a regional competition held Jan. 8.
In addition to the individual achievements of the students, the Manville Chapter was a warded a special certificate of recognition for "Outstanding Membership" for this school year.
Altogether, eight Manville students were recognized at the competition and will advance to the state competition set for march 25-26 in East Brunswick.
The other students honored at the competition are Chris Nardone (seocnd place in the Computer Application category), David Reed (seventh-place honors in Computer Concepts), Jessica Erickson’s fourth-place finish in Economics, Amanda Weston (seventh-place finish in Parliamentary Procedure), Chris Waas (second-place in Technology Concepts), Ewelina Golen’s third-place finish in the Word Processing l category and Sylvia Jakubowski (placing second in Word Processing ll).
The competition tested students from Central New Jersey schools on a variety of business subject areas.
As the students prepare for their next competition, they will also be celebrating Future Business Leaders of AmericaPhi Beta Lambda Week, Feb. 10-14. The MHS chapter has set several special events for the week, including the annual "Dress for Success Day" on Feb. 11, and FBLA T-shirt day when the students will give away shirts and other prizes.
