LBA Highlights

   The Lambertville Basketball Association finished weeks three and four in its season with each game getting more exciting.
   A number of close games were played in the past two weeks that went down to the wire.
   Here is a look at the games played in the last two weeks.

Third- and fourth-grade boys


Pedersen’s Gallery 16

Cafe Europa 2


   Pedersen’s Gallery picked up a win Saturday, Jan. 25, over the Cafe Europa team.
   Cafe Europa fought hard, but came up short.
   Charlie McClelland scored 10 points from the perimeter, and Renan Pedersen hit two baseline jumpers to lead the victors. Strong defense was played by Sam McCaffrey, Matt Centeno, Patrick Sullivan, Kiyle Osgood and Shaun Osgood.
   Conner Weber scored two points for Cafe Europa.
T-Recs 12


E.J. Lelie 10


   T-Recs defeated E.J. Lelie for the first time this season with great defense and hustle Saturday, Jan. 25.
   Brendan Collins and David DiLauro led the defense for T-Recs. DiLauro led all scorers with six points, including two clutch free throws to give T-Recs a 10-8 lead in the fourth quarter.
   Matt Sullivan drove to the hoop to tie the game at 10 points each, but Collin Cappelle scored with less than a minute to play to help give T-Recs the win. Jason McCauley and Collins each added two points for T-Recs.
   Jason Zimmerman and Sullivan each scored four points for E.J. Lelie, and Cody Stintsman added a bucket.
Third- and fourth-grade girls


R&R 26

Sneakers Plus 10


   R&R picked up a victory over Sneakers Plus Saturday, Jan. 18.
   Emily Hart led R&R Painting to the victory with 10 points. Sarah Phillips added eight points, while Karlie Schiable had four points, and Kayla Bohrer and Braleigh Silvestri each scored two points. Heather Hills played great defense for R&R.
   Cayla Esposito led Sneakers Plus with 10 points. Lisha Hoff had many steals for Sneakers Plus. Amanda Nielsen, Rachel Slovak and Margaux LaPlante all played great defense.
Pine Creek 14


Lambertville PBA 12


   Pine Creek won a close game over the Lambertville PBA Saturday, Jan. 18.
   Pine Creek pulled it out in the final 20 seconds of the game. Stefanie Hutchinson scored eight points in this back-and-forth game for the Pine Creek team. Tori Smiegocki added six more points to the final tally for Pine Creek. Melissa Aversa, Laura Kropp, Danielle Lelie and Andrea Wisnieski played tough defense and had a number of steals and rebounds for Pine Creek.
   Kelly Albanir and Emily Marley both scored six points for PBA along with a number of rebounds and steals. Tori Brenner and Mackenzie Koval were tough under the boards with several rebounds. Allissa Martino and Noelle Hedges had a number of steals and moved the ball well down the court.
R&R Painting 20


Lambertville PBA 9


   R&R Painting picked up another victory Saturday, Jan. 25, over the Lambertville PBA team.
   Lambertville PBA fought a hard game with only four players. Emily Marley was the high scorer for the PBA with five points, followed by Noelle Hedges and Tory Brenner with two points each. Mackenzie Koval was on the attack and had several steals and fast breaks.
   Sarah Phillips had 10 points for R&R. Karlie Schiable scored eight points, and Emily Hart added two points. Kayla Bohrer and Heather Hills had several rebounds, both offensively and defensively. Braleigh Silvestri had several steals and contributed several rebounds.
Pine Creek 24


Sneakers Plus 11


   Pine Creek picked up a win over Sneakers Plus Saturday, Jan. 25.
   Pine Creek held off a determined Sneakers Plus team with balanced scoring and great defense. Laura Kropp and Tori Smiegocki led the Creek with eight points each. Stefanie Hutchinson had four points and numerous steals. Melissa Aversa, Danielle Lelie and Andrea Wisnewski each had two points.
   Rachel Slovak led the Sneakers Plus attack with six points. Amanda Nielsen added five points, and Lisha Hofl scored two points. Gina Scamuffa did a great job on defense.

Wooden’s 30

New Orleans Cafe 29


   In a very entertaining, well played ballgame, Wooden’s was able to come from behind to earn its first victory of the season Saturday, Jan. 18.
   The game wasn’t decided until the last 14 seconds as the time ran out on New Orleans as it was trying to score the tying or winning basket.
   Leading the way for Wooden’s was Sam Franzini and Nick Maltese with 10 and eight points, respectively. Zach Marriott had six points, and Russell Miller had four points for Wooden’s. Matt Hajek added two.
   For New Orleans, Brian Snell had 11 points. Will Foran and Tyler Galloway each had four points, and Justin Roy, Nick Woodhull, Erik Romeo, Pat Foran and Thomas Ficarro each had two.
Medicine Shoppe 32


Hart Enterprises 22


   The Medicine Shoppe picked up a victory over Hart Enterprises Saturday, Jan. 18.
   Both teams played a tough defensive first half with the score 11-6 in favor of the Medicine Shoppe. In the second half of the game, the Medicine Shoppe pulled away for the victory.
   Leading the scoring for the Medicine Shoppe was Tyler Harrison with 11 points. E.J. Lewis added nine points, Corey O’Neil scored eight pints, David Muscatell added four points, and Wyatt Riggs contributed a foul shot.
   Matt Kritz led the way for Hart with 10 points. Kyle Stintsman added seven points, and Adam Hoagland scored five points.
Hart Enterprises 34


Wooden’s 30


   In a very close game, Hart Enterprises edged out Wooden’s Saturday, Jan. 25.
   Both teams played very well on both ends of the court. Wooden’s had a one-point lead with 2:21 left in the game, but Hart pulled out the victory, led by clutch foul shooting by Adam Hoagland.
   Hoagland led the team with 19 points, followed by Kyle Stintsman with 12 points. Matt Kritz added three points.
   Nick Maltese led the offensive attack for Wooden’s with 12 points. Zach Marriott and Matt Hajek each added four points, and Andrew Weinstein scored two points.

Cifelli’s 18

Garefino 7


   Cifelli’s picked up its first win of the season Saturday, Jan. 18, over Garefino.
   Katelyn Cifelli led the Cifelli’s team with nine points and great defense. Jeanie Hubert, Catherine Seeley, Lisa Hoagland, Molly Bob, Carrie Sherrat-Bado and Meghan Schermerhorn all played great defense.
   Cori Muscatell of Garefino played great offense and defense, scoring three points for her team. Alli Coleman added two points and played great offense and defense.
United Trust 12


Kiwanis 10


   United Trust picked up its second straight win Saturday, Jan. 18, over Kiwanis.
   It was a close and exciting game with the game being decided in the final minute of the game.
   Stephanie Davis did an outstanding job for United Trust, scoring four points in the final minute of the game to give her team the win. Brittany Shurts caused three turnovers while playing defense and added two points. Alex Walker added two points.
   Olivia Hagerty did a great job for Kiwanis, scoring six points and grabbing five rebounds. Olivia DiLauro did an outstanding job moving the ball for her team, scoring two points. Taylor Peccarelli added seven rebounds and did a great job protecting the lower key. Brittany Ennis grabbed four rebounds and scored two points. Christina DiBartolemeo played wonderful offense and defense while Amy McKelvey, Carrie Hornberger and Ashley Bennett covered the top of the key, making it tough for the offense to penetrate.
United Trust 30


Garefino 16


   United Trust won its third game of the season over Garefino Saturday, Jan. 25.
   Leading the way for United Trust was Colleen Williams with 12 points, followed by Stephanie Davis with 10 points. Alexis Walker and Brittany Shurts each added four points. Julie Burd, Marina Cordes, Dilynn Huthansel and Alysha Kritz all played awesome defense and offense.
   Angelique Platas led the Garefino team with six points, followed by Cori Muscatell with four points. Leslie Salsbury, Corinne Hart and Lauren Hartpence each had two points. Bryanna Hartpence, Alli Coleman and Amy Gray all played good defense.
Kiwanis 13


Cifelli’s 7


   Kiwanis picked up its second win of the season with a victory over Cifelli’s.
   It was a great game with the Kiwanis team taking a 5-1 lead at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter was highlighted by outstanding defense by both teams as only two foul shots were scored the entire quarter. Kiwanis held a 7-1 advantage at half-time.
   Kiwanis had a 11-3 lead going into the first quarter, but Cifelli’s started a comeback and came within four points before the Kiwanis team scored again and played some excellent defense to help them to the win.
   Olivia DiLauro led the offense for Kiwanis, scoring nine big points for her team. Christina DiBartolemeo added a long two points, while Olivia Hagerty and Taylor Peccarelli each added a foul shot. Brittany Ennis played outstanding defense for her team, boxing out and controlling the boards on both offense and defense. Amy McKelvey, Carrie Hornberger and Ashley Bennett all contributed several steals and rebounds for Kiwanis.
   Katelyn Cifelli led her team with five points, while Holly O’Shea scored two points. Lisa Hoagland, Catherine Seeley, Jeanie Hubert, Molly Bob, Jamie Tillett, Meghan Schermerhorn and Carrie Sherrat-Bado all contributed several steals and great passing for the Cifelli’s team.
