A 20-year-old Bridgewater man was the victim of a strong-arm robbery on Jan. 24. According to police, the man was accosted by an individual in the parking lot of 574 Auten Road.
The robber forced the man to the ground and removed the victim’s wallet from his trousers. The robber then fled in an unknown vehicle traveling south on Auten Road. The victim was not injured.
The victim was unable to describe his attacker, who did not appear to be armed, according to police.

Lewis Van Cleef, 50, of South Bound Brook was charged with driving while intoxicated on Jan. 23.
According to a police report, Mr. Van Cleef was stopped near 311 Amwell Road at approximately 11 p.m. Mr. Van Cleef was released after the charges were processed, pending an appearance in municipal court.

Anthony Vincent Saba, 23, of Haynes Court and Dawn Allen, 21, of River Road were each charged with possession of the controlled dangerous substance marijuana on Jan. 9.
According to a police report, the two were arrested following a motor vehicle stop at New Center Road and Beekman Lane after a check of the vehicle’s license plate revealed that the car was unregistered. Mr. Saba was additionally charged with possession of the controlled dangerous substance marijuana in a vehicle and driving an unregistered vehicle.
Mr. Saba and Ms. Allen were later released pending an appearance in municipal court.

Hillsborough police and Fire Companies 1, 2 and 3 responded to a townhouse fire at 2205 Jamestown Common on Jan. 11. According to a police report, the blaze was reported at 1:42 p.m.
Police evacuated residents from the adjoining townhouses while firefighters contained and extinguished the blaze. Unit 2205 sustained severe fire and smoke damage while the adjoining units suffered varying degrees of smoke damage.
All residents, with the exception of the 2205 occupants, were permitted to return to their homes at 4:30 p.m.
Fire officials determined that the cause of the blaze was faulty wiring in a ceiling fan.

An Andria Avenue apartment resident reported that two boxes of Christmas decorations were stolen on Dec. 4.
According to a police report, the resident told police that she had stored the two boxes in the apartment complex’s common storage area in the basement of the complex, to which all apartment residents have access. The decorations were not secured within the storage area, however.
The resident told police she wanted a police report filed for insurance purposes.
