Three of the four incumbents on the Princeton Regional Board of Education are expected to run in the April 15 school board election.
Up for election are two three-year seats from Princeton Borough, a three-year seat from Princeton Township and a one-year unexpired term from the township.
Joshua Leinsdorf, a representative from the borough who is expected to seek a second term, said one of the board’s priorities should be "repairing the damage" to the relationship with the district’s teachers, who went on strike for the first time in September.
Myra Williams, the other representative from the borough, will not seek re-election because she and her husband, VanZandt Williams, retired vice president for development at Princeton University, will be dividing their time between Princeton and a home they are building in Florida.
"It’s been a very rewarding experience," Ms. Williams said of her three years on the board. "There are some really terrific people on that board."
Ms. Williams is proudest of her part in the district instituting a single student information database.
Anne Burns, the board’s vice president and chairwoman of the Facilities Committee, plans to seek re-election to a three-year term from Princeton Township.
JoAnn Cunningham, assistant professor of African, African American and Caribbean studies at William Paterson University, who was appointed in October, has said she will seek election to the remainder of the term vacated by Howard Wainer, who moved to Philadelphia.
The deadline for filing nomination petitions is 3:30 p.m. Feb. 24.
