It is more than half way through the season, and all four of the divisions in the Lambertville Basketball Association are beginning to heat up with games that are going down to the wire throughout the league.
Here is a look at the games played in the past week.
E.J. Lelie 23
Café Europa 14
E.J. Lelie picked up a victory over Café Europa Saturday.
In a well-played game, Lelie overcame a very aggressive Café Europa team.
Both teams played excellent defense and by the end of the first quarter, the score was 6-1 in favor of Lelie. In the second quarter, Lelie built up a 12-4 lead. Café Europa came back in the third quarter to close the gap to 16-10.
The fourth quarter was well-played by both teams, with Café Europa holding on for the win.
Matt Sullivan led all scorers with 11 points for Lelie. Cody Stintsman had a big day for the Lelie team by adding six points. Jason Zimmerman scored four points, and Adam Warwinsky netted two points.
Conner Weber drained 10 points for Café Europa. Chase Opdyke and Zach Tettemer each scored baskets for the Café Europa team.
T-Recs 9
Pedersen’s Gallery defeated the T-Recs team Saturday to knot the season series between the teams.
Pedersen’s won its second straight game of the season with strong defensive efforts by Shawn Mosby, Kiyle Osgood and Shaun Osgood. Strong rebounding efforts were turned in by Patrick Sullivan, Sam McCaffrey and Renan Pedersen. Charlie McClelland scored eight points for Pedersen’s with Matt Centeno scoring his first basket of the season.
Collin Capelle led the way for T-Recs with four points. Capelle demonstrated versatility by playing both the point guard and hitting the boards hard. Jason McCully contributed four points, and Brandon Collins added a free throw for T-Recs.
Lambertville PBA 24
Sneakers Plus 6
The Lambertville PBA team picked up a win over a tough Sneakers Plus team Saturday.
Sneakers Plus fought hard against the Lambertville PBA with numerous shots, steals and rebounds, however, it came up a bit short.
Amanda Nielsen, Cayla Esposito and Lisha Hoff all scored two points each for Sneakers Plus. Jennifer Wengryn had two attempts on the foul line and several rebounds. Rachel Slovak and Gina Scamuffa had several steals to their credit.
Makenzie Koval was the high scorer for the PBA with 12 points. Emily Marley followed with eight points, and both Tori Brenner and Kelly Albanir added two points. Noelle Hedges and Allissa Martino played aggressive defense, getting several rebounds and steals each.
Pine Creek 6
R&R Painting kept its undefeated season alive with a big win over previously undefeated Pine Creek.
Kayla Bohrer, Emily Hart and Sarah Phillips each had six points for R&R. Karlie Schiable and Heather Hills each added two points.
Tori Smiegocki led Pine Creek with four points, and Stefanie Hutchinson added two points. Laura Kropp, Andrea Wiesnewski and Melissa Aversa played great defense.
New Orleans Café 48
Hart Enterprises 25
The New Orleans Café picked up a victory over Hart Enterprises Saturday.
New Orleans Café was led by Brian Snell’s 15 points. Erik Romeo added 10 points, Nick Woodhull scored nine points, Justin Roy netted eight points, Will Foran finished with four points, and Patrick Foran added two points.
Leading the way for Hart Enterprises was Kyle Stintsman with 13 points. Adam Hoagland drained six points, Matt Kritz finished with four points, and R.J. Reynolds scored two points. Both teams played a great game.
Wooden’s 31
The Medicine Shoppe was victorious over a very tough Wooden’s team Saturday.
The game was close throughout with both teams scoring 19 points in the second half. The Medicine Shoppe was led by Corey O’Neil and Tyler Harrison, who each scored 12 points. E.J. Lewis netted nine points, David Muscatell added six points, and Blake Vernon swished a foul shot for a point.
Leading the way for Wooden’s was Matt Hajek and Daniel Marley with eight points each. Nick Maltese had six points, Andrew Weinstein had four points, Sam Franzini scored three points, including a foul shot, and Zach Marriott added two. Both teams added great defense to the game.
United Trust 22
Cifelli’s 15
United Trust won its fourth straight game with a victory over Cifelli’s.
It was a very aggressive, intense game. Meghan Schermerhorn led the way for Cifell’s, scoring six points, followed by Katelyn Cifelli with four points. Molly Bob and Holly O’Shea each added two points, and Jamie Tillet had a point from the foul line. Carrie Sherrat-Bado and Lisa Hoagland played awesome defense.
The leading scorer for United Trust was Alexis Walker with 10 points, followed by six points by Stephanie Davis. Alysha Kritz and Colleen Williams each had two points. Kerry Piel, Marina Cordes, Julia Burd, Brittney Shurts and Dilynn Huthansel all played tough, tough defense.
Garefino 6
Kiwanis picked up its third win of the season with a victory over a tough Garefino team.
It was an exciting game with the game going down to the final minutes before it was decided.
Garefino held a 4-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and continued to maintain a lead, 6-3 at halftime.
However, Kiwanis tied the game by the end of the third quarter at 6-6. The final quarter was well-played by both teams, highlighted by outstanding defense on both ends of the floor.
Kiwanis took a 8-6 lead with three minutes left on a fast break by Christina DeBartolemeo. DeBartolemeo added to the Kiwanis lead with 50 seconds in the game on a foul line jumper.
Kiwanis was led in scoring by DeBartolemeo, who finished with five points. Olivia DiLauro added four points, including the tying basket, and Olivia Hagerty scored a clutch foul shot. Brittany Ennis added some fantastic assists, and both Ennis and Taylor Peccarelli were outstanding under the boards and on defense. Ashley Bennett and Amy McKelvey both played tough defense, contributing to several steals.
Garefino was led by Corinne Hart, Allison Coleman and Bryanna Hartpence, who all scored two points each. Cori Muscatell and Angelique Platas both did an outstanding job handling the ball and dishing out assists for the Garefino team. Lauren Hartpence, Amy Gray and Leslie Salsbury all added several rebounds and steals for their team.
