Master Gardeners offer program on growing plants from seeds

Master Gardener Evy Roberts of Hopewell will take the mystery out of sowing seeds.

The Master Gardeners of Mercer County will host a program, "Selecting and Growing Plants from Seeds," on Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Mercer County, 930 Spruce St., Trenton.
Master Gardener Evy Roberts of Hopewell will take the mystery out of sowing seeds. Various seeds need different requirements to germinate. Some need light while others need darkness, while still others may need a period of cold.
Some seeds take a few days to germinate while others take months.
Once the seeds have germinated, there are basic requirements for their care so they develop into vigorous plants. Learn what to do before the seedlings are planted outdoors. This program will address the proper care of seeds through all the phases of planting and growing.
