Eleanor P. Yelle, 80, of Monroe, died Thursday, Jan. 30, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born and raised on a farm in Macon, Ga., she lived in Colonia from 1954 until moving to Monroe in 1987. Before retiring in 1989, she was employed as office manager at the offices of doctors Rudnitsky and Shugar in Edison. She served in the Navy as a petty officer second class with the WAVES during World War II. She was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Woodbridge, where she was the first woman to serve on the Vestry and was a member of the church’s choir and a longtime member of the Episcopal Church Women’s Club.
Her husband, Frank D. Perez, died in 1982. She is survived by her husband of 13 years, Edward Yelle; a daughter, Diane Reichmann of Clinton, Mich.; three sons, William Perez of Sayreville, James Perez of Colonia and Thomas Perez of Tinton Falls; a sister, Juliet Turner of Avondale Estates, Ga., and 14 grandchildren.
The funeral took place on Monday, Feb. 3, at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home in Woodbridge with services following at Trinity Episcopal Church, also in Woodbridge.
