Once again,

event was a success

To the editor:

The Garden State Storytellers’ league, Inc., in association with the National Storytelling Network in Tennessee, wishes to thank all the people who worked for and attended Tellabration 2002 at Crosswicks, a benefit storytelling concert at the Crosswicks Community House in Crosswicks. Tellabration is part of a worldwide benefit storytelling event.
We especially thank the Register-News for its continued and excellent coverage for this event of six years duration.
A check for $660 has been sent to each of our three benefit concert recipients. They are: The Chesterfield Historical Society for the restoration of the Singleton House, The Crosswicks Library Building Restoration Fund and the Bordentown Food Bank.
We look forward to seeing everyone at Tellabration 2003.

We don’t

want war

To the editor:

As the U.S. government prepares to expand its military action against Iraq into a preemptive war for regime change, we, the members and attendees of Crosswicks Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends, call on our policymakers and the world community, to employ peaceful strategies to address problems of terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, and abusive regimes.
We issue this call from a place of faith, convinced that war — no matter what the proposed justification — is the ultimate rejection of God’s creation.
We affirm our belief in the ways of peace as the most effective means to counter threats of violence and achieve lasting security for all the world’s people.
We urge the peaceful pursuit of a strengthened, global, civil society based on mutual trust and respect; the rule of international law as sanctioned through the efforts of the United Nations, and the peaceful removal of the roots of violence and war.
We urge you to read more information concerning our nation’s conflict with Iraq. Please go to www.afsc.org/iraq.
To publicly register your opposition to war on Iraq, and add your name to a national list of citizens opposed to war that will be delivered to Congress, go to www.peacepledge.org.
