Program to be held in Titusville
Today as a park, the D&R Canal serves as a quiet, preserved refuge from the ever-developing suburban centers that now cover central New Jersey. However, this linear park once served a very different purpose. In a program sponsored by the Hopewell Valley Historical Society, the Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park historian, Vicki Chirco, will give a narrated power-point presentation on the story of the canal. Both historic and more up-to-date photographs will be included to illustrate the waterway’s past and present life. The session, which will be free of charge, will be held March 23 at 2 p.m. at the Titusville Presbyterian Church, 48 River Drive. For more information, call Emily Schwab, program coordinator, at 737-0037, visit [email protected], or call the D&R Canal Park Office, (732) 873-3050. The park Web site is: www.dandrcanal.com.
