Stanley Koreyva
Stanley J. Koreyva, 77, of Lawrence Township, died Saturday at the St. Francis Medical Center, Trenton.
Born in Trenton, Mr. Koreyva was a lifelong Trenton and Lawrenceville resident. He owned the former Koreyva’s Market in East Trenton retiring in 1988. He was a former member of the Polish Falcons, Nest 59, and the Cook Athletic Association. Mr. Koreyva was the first inductee in 1974 into the Trenton Softball Hall of Frame. Also, he was well known in the fast pitch softball leagues of Mercer County and Bristol Township.
Son of the late Stanley V. and Louise Gnys Koreyva, he is survived by his wife Frances E. Santilli Koreyva of Lawrence; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ken and Shelley Koreyva of Yardley, Pa., Rick Koreyva and companion Dawn Carmosino of Lawrence, Stan and Wendy Koreyva of Sea Girt; his daughter Karen L. Koreyva of Lawrence; five grandchildren Kyle, Kelly, Michael, Andrew and Jack Koreyva.
Funeral was held Wednesday at Winowicz Funeral Chapel, 865 Brunswick Avenue. Burial was in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery, Ewing Township.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are to be made to either ARC of Mercer County, 180 Ewingville Road, Ewing Township, NJ 08638, or to the Holy Cross Holy Innocents Society, c/o 201 Adeline Street, Trenton, NJ 08611.
Mary Lennon
Mary McCloskey Lennon, of Robbinsville, passed away on Wednesday at her residence.
Born in Jersey City, she resided in Robbinsville for the past eleven years. Prior to that, she lived in Lawrenceville.
Ms. Lennon was a graduate of Jersey City Academy and Fashion Institute of Technology, Manhattan. She was an editor for the Coronet Magazine and a reporter for both the Intelligencer in Doylestown, Pa. and the Jersey Journal in Hudson County. As a journalist for UPI, Ms. Lennon was the first woman admitted into "the pits" at the Indy 500, she interviewed Muhammad Ali as well as many other celebrities.
She was employed with the state of New Jersey for 18 years and most recently, she was employed as a manager with the Department of Transportation, Division of Motor Vehicles. Prior to this, she served under the Department of Law and Public Safety, Division of Consumer Affairs and the Department of Community Affairs, Division of Fire Safety. She was the daughter of the late James McCloskey, who played for the Boston Braves in the 1930s.
Daughter of the late Mary Daly and James Elwood McCloskey, and sister of the late James Robert McCloskey; she is survived by her son, James McCloskey Lennon of Robbinsville; her brother Thomas McCloskey of Jersey City; her cousins, Sharon Daly Hudock and Robert Hudock, Liam Hudock, and Jean-Marie Hudock, all of Speonk, N.Y., Thomas and Elizabeth Hudock of Laurel, N.Y., and Ronnie and Bob Thomas of Chatham, N.Y.; her nephew Thomas McCloskey of Jersey City; and many friends.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday at St. Aloysius RC Church, 691 Westside Avenue, Jersey City. Interment followed in Holy Name Cemetery, 823 Westside Avenue, Jersey City.
