Clawson Avenue resident Mike Merdinger will serve as president for 2003 of the Rotary Club of Hillsborough and Manville.
Mr. Merdinger, an environmental engineer with Foster Wheeler in Morris Plains, has been a member of the Rotary Club since 1981. This is his first term as president of the group.
Among the goals Rotary Club members hope to accomplish is the purchase of a new handicapped-accessible van to be donated to Hillsborough Township. The group will also continue its other service projects, which include the annual holiday gift program and sponsoring local students in a variety of events.
Other officers elected at the club’s December meeting include Steve Rodzinak as vice-president, Chris Sclafani was named secretary and Dennis Valcheck will serve as treasurer.
Mr. Merdinger, Mr. Rodzinak, Phyllis Heller, Mr. Sclafani, Mr. Valcheck, Dale Gates, Tom Crivello and Jerry Noll were also elected to the board of directors for the Rotary Club.
The Rotary Club of Hillsborough meets weekly at 6:15 p.m. Wednesdays in Pheasants Landing Restaurant, and invites local residents looking for opportunities to help others to attend.
