LBA Highlights

   The last two weeks of the Lambertville Basketball League has seen well-played games as the teams begin to come down to the wire for the playoffs.
   Here is a look at the games played during the past two weeks.

Third- and fourth-grade boys


E.J. Lelie 23

Pedersen’s Gallery 4


   E.J. Lelie picked up a victory Saturday, Feb. 8, over Pedersen’s Gallery.
   This was a great game. Lelie jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter.
   After the first quarter, Pedersen settled into the game and played excellent defense led by the efforts of Renan Pedersen, holding the Lelie team to only 13 more points.
   Lelie played excellent defense as well, however, a particularly good game was turned in by Michael Baskin-Searles. Matt Sullivan led all scorers with 12 points, followed by Cody Stintsman with four points. Josh Cullen contributed three, and Jason Zimmerman and Adam Warwinsky had two each.
   Shawn Mosby and Matt Centeno each scored a basket for Pedersen’s Gallery.
T-Recs 6


Café Europa 6


   T-Recs and Café Europa played to a tie Saturday, Feb. 8.
   Brendan Collins played with great hustle and added two baskets for his team. Max Whittaker added great hustle while strong rebounding and defense was turned in by Jason McCauley and Justin Hornett.
   It was a thrilling, tight game throughout the game.

T-Recs 14


   E.J. Lelie and T-Recs duked it out again Saturday, Feb. 15, with Lelie hanging on for the win.
   In a wild first quarter with shots and bodies flying everywhere, Lelie led by 4-2. T-Recs held Lelie scoreless in the second quarter and took a 6-4 lead.
   Lelie, led by outstanding rebounding by Josh Cullen, went on an 8-4 run in the third quarter to take a 14-8 lead. Lelie managed to hold off T-Recs in the fourth quarter and seal the win.
   Matt Sullivan and Josh Cullen led the scoring with eight points each. Jason Zimmerman rounded out the scoring with four points.
   T-Recs spread its scoring out nicely with Justin Harnett and David DiLauro getting four each, and Colin Cappelle, Max Whitaker, and Brendan Collins contributing two points each.

Café Europa 6


   Pedersen’s Gallery picked up a win Saturday, Feb. 15, over Café Europa.
   The Osgood brothers contributed six points from the perimeter in a game demonstrated by strong defensive play by both teams.
   Café Europa brought a well-balanced attack with baskets scored by Hunter Johnso, Zach Tettemer and Conner Weber. Aggressive defense was played by Shawn Mosby and Charlie McClelland, to clinch the win for Pedersen’s Gallery.

R&R 24

Sneakers Plus 12


   R&R Painting got a win Saturday, Feb. 8, over Sneakers Plus.
   Sarah Phillips led R&R with 10 points. Emily Hart contributed eight points, Kayla Bohrer had four points, and Braleigh Silvestri finished with two points. Karlie Schiable played great defense for R&R.
   Amanda Nielsen and Cayla Esposito each had four points for Sneakers Plus. Rachel Slovak and Lisha Hoff each had two points. Jennifer Wengryn played great defense for Sneakers Plus.
Lambertville PBA 13


Pine Creek 13


   The Lambertville PBA had an early lead, but Pine Creek fought back hard to end the game in a tie Saturday, Feb. 8, after an overtime effort.
   Tori Smiegocki was the high scorer for Pine Creek with six points, followed by Stefanie Hutchinson with five and Laura Kropp with two. Andrea Wisnewski, Danielle Lelie and Melissa Aversa had several steals and played aggressive defense.
   Leading the way for the PBA was Emily Marley with six points. Makenzie Koval added four to the tally, while Kelly Albanir added three. Noelle Hedges, Alyssa Martino and Tory Brenner had several rebounds and steals.
R&R 16


Lambertville PBA 6


   R&R picked up another win Saturday, Feb. 15, over the Lambertville PBA team.
   Sarah Phillips led R&R with 10 points. Karlie Schiable added six points. Heather Hills and Braleigh Silvestri played great defense.
   Emily Marley, Makenzie Koval and Kelly Albanir had two points each for Lambertville PBA. Tori Brenner and Noelle Hedges played great defense.
Pine Creek 12


Sneakers Plus 9


   Pine Creek got another win Saturday, Feb. 15, over Sneakers Plus.
   Tori Smiegocki led the Pine Creek team with six points. Laura Kropp contributed four points, and Stefanie Hutchinson added two points to key the Creek’s victory. Andrea Wisniewski, Danielle Lelie and Melissa Aversa played strong defense and pulled down some key rebounds.
   Amanda Nielsen led the Sneakers Plus team with six points, and Cayla Esposito had three points and many rebounds. Lisha Hoff was the ball handler for the Sneakers Plus team, and Rachel Slovak and Gina Scamuffa played strong defense and made some nice passes.

New Orleans 26

Wooden’s 24


   New Orleans squeaked out a victory over Wooden’s Saturday, Feb. 8.
   New Orleans was led by Willie Foran with 10 points. Brian Snell added six points for his team.
   Wooden’s was led by Zach Marriot and Andrew Weinstein, each scoring six points.
Hart Enterprises 45


Medicine Shoppe 19


   Hart Enterprises got a win Saturday, Feb. 8, over Medicine Shoppe.
   Hart came out playing hard and played good defense for a quick lead in the beginning of the game. Leading the way for Hart was Kyle Stintsman with 20 points, Adam Hoagland with 12 points, R.J. Fulper with five points, Nick Bolles with four points, and Matt Kritz and Kyle Schanck each with two points.
   Medicine Shoppe was led by E.J. Lewis with nine points, Corey O’Neill with six points, and Tyler Harrison and Sean Lelie with two points each.
Hart Enterprises 31


Wooden’s 28


   Hart Enterprises squeaked by with a win Saturday, Feb. 15, over Wooden’s Home Improvement.
   The game was a hard-fought physical game, and at half-time, the score was 18-18.
   The game finished out with a very close ending. Both teams played an excellent defensive game.
   Leading the way for Hart was Adam Hoagland with 14 points. Matt Kritz added 10 points, and Kyle Stintsman finished with seven points.
   Scoring for Wooden’s was Russel Miller with eight points, Nick Maltese, Daniel Marley and Sam Franzini with four points each and Zach Marriott and Andrew Weinstein with two points each.
Medicine Shoppe 52


New Orleans Café 38


   The Medicine Shoppe won an exciting game Saturday, Feb. 15, over New Orleans Café.
   Corey O’Neill scored 28 points with E.J. Lewis, Tyler Harrison and Sean Lelie all scoring four points.
   Brian Snell led the New Orleans Café team with 22 points while Justin Roy got 10 points. Will Foran, Pat Foran and Tyler Harrison got two points each in a well-played and fast-paced game.

United Trust 14

Kiwanis 7


   United Trust won its fifth game of the year with a win over Kiwanis Saturday, Feb. 8.
   This was a well-played game that was hard fought by both teams. At halftime, the scored was tied at 6-6. However, United Trust used great defense and an 8-1 in the second half to secure the win.
   United Trust was led by Stephanie Davis with six points. Brittney Shurts added four points, and Alex Walker and Colleen Williams each added two points. Julie Burd, Alysha Kritz, Dilynn Huthansel and Kerry Piel all played great defense and contributed a number of rebounds and steals.
   Kiwanis played a great game, but just had trouble getting the ball in the basket. Olivia DiLauro led the way for Kiwanis with four points. Olivia Hagerty added two points, and Christina DiBartlemeo added a foul shot. Brittany Ennis and Taylor Peccarelli both played outstanding defense for Kiwanis. Carrie Hornberger, Ashley Bennett, Amy McKelvey and Katie Foder all contributed a number of rebounds and steals for their team.
Cifelli 26


Kiwanis 14


   Cifelli won its second game of the season Saturday, Feb. 15, over Kiwanis.
   Cifelli used a 10-0 run in the second quarter to take a 16-4 lead into halftime to help lead them to victory. The second half was well played, however, Kiwanis could not overcome the lead Cifelli had built.
   Leading the way for Cifelli was Katelyn Cifelli with 10 points. Meghan Schermerhorn, Holly O’Shea and Catherine Seeley each added four points while Carrie Sherrat-Bado and Jaime Tillett each scored two points. Lisa Hoagland added strong defensive play for the Cifelli’s team.
   Olivia DiLauro led the Kiwanis offense with six points, including a buzzer-beating three pointer. Olivia Hagerty added four points, while Christina DiBartelomeo and Carrie Hornberger both added two points. Brittany Ennis and Taylor Peccarelli added strong defense while Amy McKelvery, Katie Foder and Ashley Bennett all contributed several steals and rebounds.
