Four days before the Feb. 24 filing deadline for the April 15 school board election, two candidates have turned in their signed nominating petitions to the Lawrence Township Board of Education office.
Incumbent school board members Michael Brindle and Michael Wilson have turned in their petitions. The third incumbent, Michael Winka, has taken out a petition but it has not been returned.
Up for grabs are the three seats held by Mr. Brindle, Mr. Wilson and Mr. Winka. The terms are for three years. Mr. Brindle is seeking his fifth term and Mr. Wilson is seeking his second term.
There is still time for township residents who want to run for school board to file a nominating petition. The deadline to file the petition is Monday, Feb. 24 at 4 p.m.
School board candidates must file a nominating petition, signed by 10 registered voters. Petitions may be picked up at the school board office at 2565 Princeton Pike on weekdays, between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Candidates must be able to read and write, be a United States citizen and registered to vote, and have lived in Lawrence for at least one year. Candidates may not be members of Township Council, have a financial interest in any contract with the school board or have a claim against the school board.
