To the editor:
It is with heartfelt gratitude that I write this letter thanking the Monmouth Junction First Aid Squad for all their efforts in helping my 20-year-old daughter Laura on the night of Jan. 22. Laura is a juvenile diabetic and she had a seizure while she was sleeping on our couch. This was the first time in her seven years of having diabetes that this has ever happened.
Within minutes the first aid squad was there to treat her medically and transport her quickly to the Medical Center at Princeton.
When they wheeled her out on the stretcher at the hospital, she looked up at me and said, "Mom, thank you." All I had done was dial 911; they had saved her life.
I know that it might not be easy to appreciate our first aid squad unless you have needed their help. They sure pulled through my daughter, and I will always appreciate their kindness and expertise.
Special thanks to Mike Bergman, our former neighbor, of the First Aid Squad who was not on call that night but heard that someone at our address was in distress and came to help anyway.
