To the editor
The decision by the school board to propose a 6.7-percent increase in the school budget just shows how out of step the administration is with the citizens of Hillsborough.
To propose new programs, while the country and our community are in the throes of a recession with no relief in sight is ludicrous at best and an insult to every citizen of the community.
The board’s inability to show restraint in spending during these difficult economic times only makes the case for a serious change in administrators.
The school budget should maintain the current programs while finding cost reductions where it can.
I also recommend the board take this opportunity to eliminate the position of high school athletic director and have another athletic coach, who has no teaching responsibilities, take the pictures of senior athletes.
