PHS Interact Club to hold auction for Afghan children

With the support of other school clubs, The Interact Club (Junior Rotary) at Princeton High School is sponsoring a silent auction on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Davis Conference Room at Princeton High School.
Proceeds will go to the BluePack Project, an initiative to provide 200,000 specially made backpacks filled with basic school and hygiene supplies to Afghan children.
The BluePack Project was created by the Academy for Educational Development. AED is committed to improving people’s lives by working collaboratively to solve critical social problems in the United Sates and throughout the world.
Each BluePack costs $10 and includes basic school supplies such as pens and notebooks, chalk and a chalkboard. A portion of the cost goes to teacher training and other initiatives to help rebuild Afghanistan’s capacity to educate its children.
Some items to be auctioned include dance classes, a DVD player and a bread basket. Donations have been collected from many businesses. Bidding will close at 8:30 p.m. There will also be live music and food.
