Library closing

   The Bordentown Library will cease operating at 18 East Union Street location as of Saturday, March, 1 for approximately one year. Patrons can pick up requests, place requests, access the library card catalog and use the Internet at Fieldsboro Town Hall, Washington Street and 2nd Street, Fieldsboro beginning Monday, March 3.
   A small collection of the library’s adult popular titles and juvenile titles, video recordings, daily newspapers and monthly periodicals will be available for circulation at the satellite location. The book drop in front of the East Union Street location will remain open as long as possible.
   Regular library hours will continue: Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For information, call the library at 298-0622.
Social dinner

   The Widows and Widowers of Burlington County will hold its 14th anniversary dinner/social 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 2 at Holy Assumption McGrath Hall. Catered dinner costs $11 for members and $13 for guests. Dancing begins at 7:30. For those who will not attend the dinner admission is $4 for members and $5 for guests. Blood drive

   Red Cross Blood Drive from 2 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 3 at Crosswicks Community Center, 480 Main Street, Crosswicks. Identification is required. For information call (800) 448-3543.
Flower show trip

   Florence Garden Club is sponsoring a trip to the Philadelphia Flower Show on Wednesday, March 5. The bus will leave Florence at 3:30 p.m. and load for the return trip at 8:30 p.m. The cost is $30 per person, includes bus fare and admission to the show. Dinner can be purchased at the show if needed. For information call Judy King at 499-2405.
Chinese auction

   The Columbus Home and School Association will sponsor a Chinese auction on Friday, March 7 at the Northern Burlington High School cafeteria. Doors open at 6 p.m. and calling starts at 8 p.m.
   Admission is $5 and includes a door prize ticket, one card of 25 tickets and free refreshments. Must be 18 to attend. For information call Caroline at 298-5509.
Antiques appraised

   The Ladies Auxiliary to Post 8838, Roebling, will host an antiques appraisal day from 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 8. No jewelry, weapons, furs or large furniture; $5 per item. Ron Shaffer, member of International Society of Appraisers will be available. For information call 499-9848 after 7 p.m.
Casino trip

   The Knights of Columbus 570 is sponsoring a bus trip to the Showboat Casino, Atlantic City on March 9. Bus leaves St. Mary’s Church parking lot 4:30 p.m. for a four-hour stay. Cost is $15 per person with $14 back from the casino. For reservations call Bob at 298-5530.
5K run and fun walk

   A St. Paddy’s Day 5K run and 2-mile fun walk, sponsored by the Bordentown Regional Education Foundation and the Bordentown Rotary Club, will be held Saturday, March 15. Registration from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Clara Barton School, Bordentown. The 2-mile walk begins 8:45 a.m.; 5K run begins 9:30 a.m. Pre-registration by March 7. Cash awards to top three female and male finishers.

Book group

   The book group will meet for discussions 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 19 – Sherlock Holmes’ "A Case of Identity" by Arthur Conan Doyle and on Thursday, March 27 – "The Priestess of Avalon" by Marion Zimmer Bradley at By the Book 150 Farnsworth Avenue. All are welcome. For information call 298-3334.
Girl Scouts

   The Girl Scouts will hold a family bowling event at 2 and 6 p.m. Saturday, March 22 at Thunderbird Bowling Lanes in Wrightstown. Contact your leader for time slot.
   Cost is $10 per person and includes two games, shoe rental, use of house ball, pizza and soda. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Money is due to your leaders as soon as possible.
Squad members

   The Roebling Rescue Squad is accepting applications for active, contributing and canteen membership. Training is provided for all members. Anyone interested can pick up an application at the squad building at 2nd and Hornberger avenues, or call 499-0911.
Scholarships

   The Springfield Township School and Community Education Foundation Inc. is offering a $500 scholarship to a graduating high school student who presently or formerly resides in the community and attended the Springfield Township School District.
   Applications are available from the foundation office or the school’s guidance office. For information call the superintendent’s office at 723-2479, *811. All applications are due March 14.
Crafters wanted

   The Holy Assumption PTA is looking for crafters and vendors for its craft show on Sunday, March 30. The fee is $20 for table rental and a donation for a raffle.
