Blizzard can’t stop dedicated crews

To the editor

On the night of Feb. 18 during the recent record "blizzard," at approximately 4 a.m. when two feet of snow was already to have fallen on the Jersey shore, I had a personal breathing crisis which necessitated an emergency call to 911.
The response was immediate. Within minutes there was a Hillsborough police cruiser at my house and in a few minutes, he was followed by several more light flashing vehicles – more police, Emergency Services ambulances and soon even a township road plow.
The plow was no doubt summoned by the first policeman since he had trudged through about 175 foot of deep snow across my yard to my front door — he was unable to discern where my driveway was.
Shortly there were six or seven people in my living room testing and tending to me, taking down information, etc.
When they were satisfied with the testing, they strapped me into a chair like device and carried me through the 18-inches or so of snow to the waiting Rescue Squad ambulance. They transferred me onto a stretcher, then put me into the ambulance waiting in the driveway just plowed out so that the ambulance could get to me.
By approximately 5:15 a.m., I was in Somerset Medical Center Emergency Room being tended to.
Need I say anything about caring, professionalism and dedication?
There were too many involved and circumstances too hectic to remember names of those involved — but you know who you are.
My sincere and heartfelt thanks to each of you and please know that you are all in my prayers.
