Jade Fire to play
in Battle of Bands
Local band Jade Fire will, once again, perform at The Saint in Asbury Park when it competes in a "Battle of the Bands" on March 30. The competition will run from 1-5 p.m.
"The Battle of the Bands" is a series of competitions in which bands perform and are judged for various criteria, some of which include original music, performance, professionalism, crowd reaction and ticket sales. If they succeed in the first level, they will go on to compete on a number of different levels, culminating in a final competition at Birch Hill in Old Bridge this summer.
The competition is sponsored by Dan Fulton of JerseyShows.com and Scott Stamper of The Saint.
Jade Fire consists of nine teenage boys hailing from Freehold, Manalapan and Marlboro.
Members Jared Brisman (saxophone), Akash Chandawarkar (guitar, keyboard, sax, vocals), Jesse Eisemann (trumpet), Tim Kauffeld (trumpet), Eric Rosen (percussion), Scott Rosen (drums), Erik Rudic (lead guitar), Nick Salvetti (trombone and keyboard) and Mike Sosinski (vocals and bass guitar) range in age from 13-16.
They have been performing original and cover songs locally and in New York City since 1999. They were nominated last year for the Asbury Music Awards. Their first CD is almost completed and will be released soon.
