Eisenhower students
to host fund-raiser
The Eisenhower Middle School S.T.O.P. Club (Service Toward Other People) and the Freehold Township Public Assistance Office will hold the New Jersey Empty Bowl Event on April 8 at the Freehold Township Senior Center, 116 Jackson Mills Road.
The event, to be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., is a fund-raiser for the hungry coordinated by the Coalition of Service Learning. For a donation of $5, participants will receive a meal consisting of salad, baked ziti, meatballs, beverage and dessert. This year’s food will be donated by Freehold Savings and Loan and prepared by Pat’s Market, according to a press release.
Students, parents and teachers in conjunction with other community members join together to prepare and serve a meal. The meal is served in handmade bowls created by the students at the Eisenhower school. After the meal, each participant will take the empty bowl home as a reminder that someone’s bowl should never be empty.
Proceeds will be donated to a local food pantry selected by the Eisenhower Middle School students.
