Once again, a projected school tax increase is in the works for the beleaguered property owners of Freehold Borough.
Ignoring for a moment the disproportionate way that our schools are funded, the belt tightening that is necessary in all other aspects of life at this time seems to have escaped the local school board as well as those lobbying the board on behalf of their own interests.
I’ve had to cut 20 percent from the budget of a very deserving hospital program, while my expenses continue to rise.
This is reality in 2003, everywhere except Freehold Borough it seems. I urge the voters to take a long hard look at the specifics in 2003-04 school budget and make an educated decision.
