Herbert Perlmutter died Monday, March 31, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born in the Bronx, Mr. Perlmutter resided in East Brunswick for 31 years before moving to Monroe one and a half years ago. His first and favorite job was assistant manager at the legendary Copacabana in New York. Prior to his retirement in 2000, Mr. Perlmutter was employed as a salesman at Tops Appliance City in Edison for 19 years. Prior to that, he worked for E.J. Korvette’s in Manhattan for many years. He was an Army veteran and belonged to Retail Union Local 888. He was a also a member of the Computer Club at Concordia.
His brother, Normal Perle, died in 1983. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joan Reitman Perlmutter; two daughters, Allisa Perlmutter of East Brunswick and Deanna Perlmutter of Manhattan; a brother, Arnold Perle of Florida; and a sister, Pearl Rizos of Manhattan.
Services were held Wednesday, April 3. Interment followed at Floral Park Cemetery in South Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
