Lambertville

The report of a juvenile spray-painting a storefront window sent police to the Union Street Parking lot shortly before 10:30 p.m. March 24.
Instead of vandals, police found a white Chevrolet with three occupants who allegedly had been smoking marijuana.
The driver of the car, a 17-year-old from Lambertville and his passengers, 18-year-old Corey Andrew Agin, 18, of 37 Somerset St., Hopewell, and a 14-year-old Lambertville girl, were taken to the police station. Mr. Agin was the registered owner of the car.
Police said they found loose marijuana as well as a beer can that had been fabricated into a smoking pipe in the car. The can contained burned marijuana residue and had a lighter on top of it.
Both males were arrested while the female was detained. The men were charged with having a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. Mr. Agin was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and smoking a controlled dangerous substance in a vehicle. The juvenile male was charged with having under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia in a motor vehicle.
Mr. Agin was released without bail. The two juveniles were released to their parents.
A New Hope man was arrested by Lambertville police March 31 and charged with drunken driving.
John Matthew Flood, 33, of 102 Summer Lea Court, attracted the attention of police a few minutes after midnight when he crossed the yellow line as he exited the free bridge onto Bridge Street, police said.
Although police activated overhead lights and siren, they said, Mr. Flood continued, turning right on South Union Street, right on Ferry Street and driving the wrong way on Kline’s Court before turning left on Bridge Street, heading back towards New Hope.
   He stopped on the bridge.
He also was charged with failure to maintain lanes, traveling the wrong way on a one-way street, failure to stop for an emergency vehicle and failure to exhibit an insurance card.
   He was released without bail.
Police Director Bruce Cocuzza has announced the beginning of a new campaign targeting cards illegally parked at intersections.
Cars parked within yellow zones obstruct visibility of drivers trying to exit side streets, particularly those trying to get on Union and Main streets, he said.
"We know it’s tough to find parking sports in Lambertville," he said, "but you can’t endanger other drivers in your efforts to find space. I’ve received numerous complaints recently from residents about the lack of visibility at intersections, particularly when the illegally parked vehicles are vans, SUVs or 4x4s."
Initially, cars found parked within the yellow zones will be given warnings in the form of a police-issued flyer, warning that future violations will result in a ticket.
Saturday at about 3 p.m., police stopped a vehicle on Route 29 at Fireman’s Island for improper safety glass and tinted windows.
That resulted in the arrest of Lawrence Recinos, 28, of Philadelphia, on outstanding traffic warrants.
Police said Mr. Recinos provided a Pennsylvania ID card, saying he did not have a driver’s license. Police said a check revealed Mr. Recinos’s driving privileges were suspended and showed several outstanding traffic warrants — Ewing Township, $1,000, Trenton, $1,250, and Randolph Township, $750.
He was transported to Hopewell Township Police and released to the custody of Ewing Township Police.
He also was ticketed for improper safety glass, driving with a suspended driver’s license and driving while unlicensed.
April 3, Peter Weinrich, 32, of Morrisville, Pa., was charged with drunken driving.
Police said they saw Mr. Weinrich’s vehicle straddle the double yellow line no-passing line near the Lambertville-New Hope bridge.
The driver stayed there for about 50 feet until he jerked the wheel, returning to the proper lane, police said. He did this again as he continued south on Route 29, police said, where he was stopped in the vicinity of the Laceworks complex.
He also was charged with careless driving and was released to a friend without bail.
A 21-year-old Philadelphia man was charged with drunken driving and possession of drug paraphernalia March 31 at about 8 p.m.
Police said they saw a green truck spinning its tires in the area of Route 165. The driver then pulled into the Exxon gas station.
The driver, Brett Angle, told police he didn’t know what they were talking about after being stopped.
A search revealed three open bottles of beer under the driver’s seat and a brown wooden marijuana pipe in his pocket.
He also was charged with careless driving, driving with a suspended driver’s license, having an open container, and refusal to submit to a breathalyzer test.
A check revealed an outstanding traffic warrant from Washington Township for $138.
He was released to his father after posting $250 bail and $138 for the warrant.
